Police Department Vacates City Building
GREENSBORO, NC (Sept. 7, 2017) – Beginning Monday, Sept. 11, all Greensboro Police Department offices that were in the Melvin Municipal Office Building at 300 W. Washington St. will be in the five-story GPD building at 100 Police Plaza (also known as 320 Federal Pl.)
The Chief’s Suite is located on the fully-renovated fifth floor. These offices are:
* The Chief of Police, his Executive Officer, Administrative Assistant, and four Deputy Chiefs
* The Legal Section
* Resource Management, including Fiscal Management, Human Resources, Recruiting, and Accreditation
* The Professional Standards Division
* Public Information
The Greensboro Police Foundation also has an office and conference room on this floor.
Now located on the third floor of the building are Crime Analysis, and the Office of Community Engagement.
The staff is self-moving today and tomorrow. Services will be limited during this time.
The move comes after approximately 10 months of construction. The areas with the new offices were gutted and rehabilitated shortly after the City of Greensboro purchased the building from the General Services Administration for $1 in July 2011.
The department will formally open the building to the public at a grand re-opening on Thurs., Sept. 28. Additional information about this event will be published later.
