Parks and Recreation Seeks Fall Football and Cheerleading Coaches

GREENSBORO, NC (May 19, 2017) – Greensboro Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers to serve as coaches for youth football and cheerleading teams this fall. Greensboro offers football and cheerleading for children aged 7-12 for Glenwood, Leonard, Lewis, Peeler, Trotter, Warnersville, and Windsor recreation centers.

Parks and Recreation’s youth athletic programs promote sportsmanship, learning proper techniques and basic fundamental. The City needs head, assistant, offensive and defensive football coaches. Ideal candidates would have knowledge and experience with the game. The season runs from August to November. Coaches are responsible for holding parents’ meetings. They must be able to attend pre-season training, practice from 6-8 pm Mondays through Thursdays, once weekly games, playoff games, and the city-wide jamboree.

Cheerleading coaches must be able to attend practice 2-3 times per week, participate in parades, and teach the girls up to five cheers and a dance for the end of the season showcase.
