Five Greensboro Residents will Serve on Airport Noise Study Advisory Committee

GREENSBORO, NC (May 15, 2019 ) – Five Greensboro residents will be appointed to serve on a Citizens Advisory Committee to provide input for the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority’s Noise Compatibility Planning Study update. Residents who are interested in serving should contact Sharon Bell, assistant to Mayor Nancy Vaughan, at<> or 336-373-2002.
The airport authority requested the mayor of Greensboro and other area governments select members for the Citizens Advisory Committee. The committee will provide input on current noise conditions around the airport, review existing measures that are in place to reduce aircraft noise exposure on neighborhoods, advise the authority if any adjustments may be needed to those measures, and comment on study results. It will meet four times over the course of the approximately one-year study update.
To allow for broader public participation, the authority and its consultants will hold two public workshops, using an open house format, to explain the study, present information and solicit public comments. These workshops will be publicized.
The study will recommend updated Noise Exposure Maps and possible changes to noise mitigation measures for consideration. The FAA has final say to accept the Noise Exposure Maps and approve any changes to the Noise Compatibility Program.
