GCS Schools to Close Monday, April 16
There will be no school for staff and students

Greensboro, N.C. – There will be no school for students and staff on Monday, April 16 due to extensive damage and power outages caused by a tornado that hit Greensboro Sunday afternoon.

Essential personnel, facilities and maintenance staff will report as scheduled and directed by their supervisors.

Three schools were significantly damaged: Hampton, Peeler and Erwin Elementary. Others were without electricity late Sunday evening, including: Simkins, Falkener, Monticello-Brown Summit, Bessemer, McLeansville and Bluford Elementary; the Academy at Lincoln and Hairston Middle; Dudley High and Herbin-Metz and Gateway Education Center, Middle College at Bennett. In addition, the Franklin Boulevard administration office is also without power.
