“Do not drink” advisory lifted for Greensboro neighborhood

A “do not drink” water advisory has been lifted for a Greensboro neighborhood.

Due to an improper water connection to the city’s distribution system that was not protected by a backflow device, city officials said a cross-contamination event occurred with the city’s system in the 2600 block of Phoenix Drive.

The issue has resulted in a prolonged interruption of water service for approximately 32 businesses and several residential customers.

Water resources staff flushed lines and tested water quality to ensure safety of the water.

The city said the water was fully restored Friday after bacteriological samples were clear. The water is now safe for consumption.
