Two Greensboro men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 38-year-old Reginald Jermaine Grayson in Reidsville on Christmas day. King Justice “K.J.” Wray, 27, and Deshawn Letterlough, 26, both of Greensboro, were apprehended after a police chase that ended in Greensboro.

Mayor calls for arts task force

GREENSBORO, NC — Mayor Nancy Vaughan has proposed a task force, to be appointed by the mayor and city council, that would examine the financial needs and sustainability of local arts groups. Vaughan proposed the idea to the city council as it approved a new funding plan for the planned Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in which the city agreed to take on an additional $9.6 million in bond debt to help close the center’s budget gap, bringing the total taxpayer commitment, with interest, to $67.3 million.

Where’s the data?

GREENSBORO, NC — On Dec. 15, Greensboro Police Department Chief Wayne Scott reported to the council that recent stop data show the numbers of black and white drivers being stopped were nearly identical and presented these statistics as evidence that his order was having the desired effect. The chief gave no updated statistics on search rates or contraband-found rates. Why did Scott omit these two rates? Why did no member of the council ask the chief for these rates? | Related: Greensboro 101 requested some of the data in question on December 17th. We have not received it yet.
