Attempted robbers end up in scuffle with fence workers, gunshots fired


Two men who attempted to rob a Greensboro convenience store wound up scuffling with a pair of fence workers and firing a gun at them.

Employees at the Speedway gas station at 5916 W. Market Street told police that two men entered the store at about 12:40 p.m. Thursday and attempted to rob it.


One of the men was armed with a short-barreled weapon.

When an employee disrupted their efforts, the two fled on foot and encountered two men working on a fence on the property.

A struggle ensued between the four men and the weapon was discharged.

The two suspects then resumed running from the scene.

No one was injured in the incident.

One of the suspects is described as a black man who is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and has a slim build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and tan shorts.

The other suspect is described as heavy set man, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a short haircut. He was wearing a dark top and dark basketball shorts.
