GREENSBORO, NC (February 14, 2017) – On Tuesday, 02-14-2017, at 1:07 pm Greensboro Police responded to Interstate 40 E/85 N, near Mt. Hope Church Rd in reference to a motor vehicle crash with personal injury.
Ms. Tonya McKellar (B/F 44 years old, of Durham, NC) was stopped in her 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage in the next-to-inside travel lane. A 2017 Lexus RX 350 being operated by Mr. David Henderson (W/M 73 years old, of Spartanburg, SC) crashed into the rear of Ms. McKellar’s stopped vehicle. As a result of the impact, the Mitsubishi collided with a 2015 Volvo XC60 being operated by Ms. Sandra Ashcraft (W/F 69 years old, of High Point, NC). Ms. McKellar was transported to the hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries sustained in the crash.
Impairment did not contribute to this crash.
This is the 1st fatal motor vehicle crash of this year for Greensboro. The Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting this on-going and active investigation.
