Officers Patrol Railroad Crossings on ATVs to Promote Rail Safety

WHAT: The Greensboro Police Department is raising awareness about rail safety by occasionally patrolling active railroad tracks and rail crossing on All-Terrain Vehicles. The goal of the campaign is to prevent additional loss of life. Already this year, one Greensboro resident was fatally struck by a train. Officers will be handing out flyers to encourage safe crossing practices.

WHEN: Weds., May 17 from 10:30 am – noon

WHERE: Grade crossings from Bennet St. to Franklin Blvd.

WHO: Specially-trained GPD ATV officers, and officers assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit.
